About Me

I’m Heather Belleguelle from beautiful North-East England, and I love to copyedit and proofread cozy mysteries, police procedurals, sweet romance, and inspirational fiction. Whether you’re writing your first novel or have a whole library of titles behind you, I’d be delighted to work with you. And if you’re not British but set your books in the UK, I can help you give your readers a genuine British experience with my British authenticity reading. I enjoy editing both contemporary and historical novels and work in either US or British English. My desire is to help you polish your writing to its shiniest before you send it out into the world for readers to enjoy.

My Skills

I’ve been a lover of reading and language from a very early age, which led me to a degree in modern languages, and in 2016, to starting my editing business. I have a Continuing Professional Development Certificate in proofreading and copyediting from the Writers Bureau and am an Entry Level member of the CIEP (Chartered Institute of Editors and Proofreaders). As a member, I abide by the CIEP’s Professional Practice Code.

I aspire to excellence as I work with you, the author, in a professional, friendly, and relaxed way. I have an innate feel for language, a knack for spotting anachronistic words and phrases, and a good eye for detail, all of which will help polish your novel.

My Downtime

A pale golden retriever cross labrador puppy sits on a woodland path looking into the camera with soulful eyes.

Outside my working hours, I can usually be found researching my family history, reading a novel, or helping my husband with the Guide Dog puppy that we are currently raising. When (or if!) Puppy settles for the evening, we like to watch detective dramas or sports whilst indulging in a little dark chocolate.
